Mother’s Day offers a great opportunity to spoil your mom with our Malbec Bay Wine Box. Whether you are planning a large home cooked meal or special BBQ, we have got you covered for Mother’s Day!
When choosing wine, think about how you will be celebrating and the food you are serving. Pay particular attention to the food’s structural and flavour characteristics to find a complimentary wine.
The basics of pairing wine with food Finding a great food and wine pairing is a great moment but can be difficult. That’s why we’ve created 5 simple guidelines that you can follow to skillfully pair your Mother’s Day wine with food:
· Try to compliment or contrast the wines with food
· Choose wines that are more acidic or sweeter than the foods you’re eating
· Choose wines with a similar level of intensity to the food i.e., light food, light wine
· Salty and fatty foods lower tannins, bringing out the fruit character of the wine
· Bitter wines clash with bitter foods, so avoid dry red wines
Brunch at home Whether you’re going out to your favorite brunch spot or making it at home in your PJs make sure to pair wine with your brunch!
A light rosé or a cool, crisp white wine will often be your best bet. For instance, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, or eggs benedict pair well with a light, fruity rosé. If smoked salmon is in the mix, a dry rosé will help cleanse the palate between bites.
For avocado toast go with a light white wine like Sauvignon Blanc. Huevos Rancheros, for instance, with spicy salsa and chorizo pairs well with a light, earthy red like Tempranillo.
BBQ on the beach
A beach BBQ is a great location for a Mother’s Day meal! For classic beef burgers, you’ll want a medium- to full-bodied red with some tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon is a solid choice. You could also opt for a Zinfandel. Steak pairs well with a bold, structured red like Syrah or Malbec.
Malbec Bay wish you a Happy Mother's Day!
